The Chronicles of a Loyalist Chapter

MYTHOS

The Blood Remembers.
I · The Chapter

Custodes Sanguinis

Sons of Sanguinius. Guardians of a fragile balance.

The Custodes Sanguinis are a loyalist Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes, descended from the Blood Angels and bound to the gene-seed of Sanguinius. They bear their Primarch’s nobility and the burden of a bloodline that has never known peace.

Yet their greatest trial is not an enemy beyond the walls of the Imperium. It is a struggle within their own bodies, fought in silence even as the guns of war fall still.

II · The Beginning

Genesis

Their founding was marked by a flaw no oath could erase.

In the earliest generations of the Chapter, the Apothecarion uncovered an unusual instability in the regulation of the warriors’ blood. Its origin remained uncertain, but its consequences were unmistakable: even the strongest battle-brother could be brought low without warning.

Some suffered dangerous surges, others sudden and devastating falls. Strength could become weakness in the space of a heartbeat. The Chapter refused to regard this condition as shame or a sentence of failure. Instead, its warriors built a culture of vigilance, mutual care and precise discipline.

Ancient suits of Mark VI Corvus armour are preserved as sacred relics, reminders that endurance is not measured by perfection, but by what a warrior chooses to protect.

III · The Burden Within

The Blood Instability

Their blood must be watched, even when their eyes are fixed upon the enemy.

Each brother learns to read the signs of imbalance. Auspex-linked monitors and discreet devices built into armour and wargear warn of dangerous fluctuations. Carefully measured treatments, administered when needed, help restore a balance that can never be taken for granted.

On campaign, an Apothecary’s knowledge is as vital as a blade. Brothers watch over one another, for no warrior is beyond the reach of a sudden collapse. Their condition cannot simply be conquered through willpower, nor is it a failing of courage.

The Custodes Sanguinis do not await a miraculous cure before taking up arms. They learn, adapt and stand together.

“Their greatest enemy does not stand before them on the battlefield. It flows within their own veins.”
IV · The Oath

Inter Altum et Humile

Between the high and the low, duty endures.

These words are more than a battle cry. They name the delicate balance upon which every brother’s life depends, and the courage required to live with uncertainty. The Chapter honours vigilance without fear, strength without arrogance and brotherhood without pity.

To be a Custos Sanguinis is not to be invulnerable. It is to rise, to be watched over, and in turn to watch over others. Their legacy is written not only in victories, but in every brother who returns to stand beside his own.
